Pakistan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry yesterday voiced its support
of the one-China policy. “The recent statements of Mr Chen Shuibian
of Taiwan are evasive and betray his lack of sincerity
about the ‘one-China policy.’ Pakistan believes that there is
only one China. Taiwan is an integral and inalienable part of
the People’s Republic of China, which is the sole legal government,
representing the whole of China, including Taiwan，”
the ministry said in a statement. “The Taiwan issue is an internal
affair of the People’s Republic of China. Outside powers should
not meddle
in China’s internal affairs. The Government of Pakistan is confident
that, like Hong Kong and Macao, Taiwan would soon return to the
motherland.”
