Topic of the week: CONDITIONALS

SUPERSTITIONS

What is superstition? It's believing in the supernatural, it's an irrational fear of the unknown, it's an idea of the effects or nature of a thing. Are you superstitious?! Below, you will see some popular superstitions in the U.S., and you'll notice that they all use the conditional that you learned yesterday.

* If you walk under a ladder, you will have bad luck.
* If you touch wood, your good luck will continue.
* If you make a wish on a falling star, it will come true.
* If you cross your fingers when lying, your lie will not count against you.

Do you have any of the same, or similar, superstitions in your country? Maybe you have some very different or unusual ones, too. Share them with the rest of your Englishtown friends in the Culture Forum!
