Criticism

FROM THE STRONGEST TO THE MILDEST

1) That's awful.
2) That's terrible.
3) That could be improved.
4) That could be better.
5) That is good but you could try..........
6) It might help if you try...........

That can be substituted with another noun in these sentences. Here are some examples:

1) Your cooking is awful.
2) His music is terrible.
3) Your writing could be improved.
4) Her attendance could be better.
5) Your speaking skills are good but you could try practicing more pronunciation exercises.
6) It might help if you try to push this button.

Can you tell which criticism is the strongest? Can you tell which criticism is the mildest or nicest? Number one is the strongest. This sentence criticizes but doesn't tell the person being criticized anything good. Number five is the mildest and gentlest. It says something good first then offers a suggestion about what the person can do to change.

What is the strongest criticism that you ever heard? What was the mildest criticism? What is your style of criticizing? Strong or mild?
