那么“小年”用英语应该怎么表达呢？

Little New Year
“小年”是我国传统节日，在英语中，比较常见的表达“小年”的词链儿是Little New Year。
China Central Television will stage an entertainment gala to welcome the New Year on the day of Little New Year (Xiaonian in Chinese).
在小年 这天，中央电视台将举办一场娱乐晚会来迎接新年。
The temple fairs run from Little New Year (Chinese: Xiaonian).
庙会通常在 小年 时开始。

The Kitchen God Festival
传说“小年”这天是灶神上天述职的日子，所以这一天也叫“灶神节”。
The close association of the Kitchen God with the Lunar New Year has resulted in the Kitchen God Festival being called the Little New Year.
由于灶神和农历新年有密切联系，使得 灶神节被称为小年。
There are numerous customs associated with determining the date of the Kitchen God Festival, or Little New Year.
关于 灶神节 （即小年）的日期，也是有着不同的风俗。

传说灶神会在“小年”这天上天庭禀报百姓一年来所做的善恶之事，所以家家户户会敬献糖瓜（也有人叫灶糖、麻糖），为的是让灶王爷嘴甜一点，“上天言好事”，来年给家里一个更红火的光景。
糖瓜其实是一种麦芽糖，由小麦、糯米和芝麻制成，中间有小气泡，味道香甜酥脆。英语里可以用 Tangguar表示：
Malt Sugar Candy is usually calledTangguar in northern China.
麦芽糖在中国北方通常被称为“糖瓜儿”。
糖瓜还可以用 sugar melon来表达：
A child buys "sugar melon".
一个孩子在买“糖瓜” 。

Xiaonian
“小年”也可以直接用拼音“Xiaonian”来表示。
Xiaonian is a festival marking the start of the countdown to the Chinese Lunar New Year .
小年是标志 中国农历新年 倒计时开始的节日。
a Spring Festival celebration to welcome Xiaonian, or the Little Chinese New Year

Minor New Year
“小年”还可以用Minor New Year这一表达：
The entire teaching building was full of cheerful voices on Xiaonian, or Minor New Year by the lunar calendar.
小年(农历的小年)这天整个教学楼里都洋溢着欢声笑语。
The Minor New Year (Xiaonian in Chinese), usually falls a week before the lunar New Year.
小年 （即中国小年）通常是在农历新年的前一周。

由于各地风俗不同，被称为“小年”的日子也不尽相同。北方“小年”为腊月二十三，南方“小年”为腊月二十四。如何用英语表达这些阴历日期呢？
“阴历”的英语即the lunar calendar或the Chinese calendar
阴历日期可以用以下方式表达：
以“阴历二月初二”为例，
the second day of the second month of the lunar calendar
或
the second day of the second lunar month
那么，“腊月二十三”就可以表达为：
the 23rd day of the 12th month of the lunar calendar
或
the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month
On the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month,the whole family came together to send Vulcan.
在 腊月二十三这天，全家人会聚在一起送火神。
“腊月二十四”则是：
the 24th day of the 12th month of the lunar calendar
或
the 24th day of the 12th lunar month

妈妈告诉我， 农历腊月(十二月)二十四日，是“灶神爷”上天奏事的日子。
