Mary Alice Young: When I was alive, I maintained manydifferentidentities: lover, wife, and ultimately, victim. Yes,labels areimportant to the living. They dictate how people seethemselves.Like my friend, Lynette. She used to see herself as acareer woman. And a hugely successful one at that. She was known forher powerlunches... her eye-catching presentations... and herruthlessnessin wiping out the competition. Lynette gave up hercareer to assumea new label: incredibly satisfying role offull-time mother.
Lynette: Scavo residence. Yes, this is me.
Mary Alice Young: But, unfortunately for Lynette, this newlabelfrequently fell short of what was advertised.
Lynette: How in the world did they...
Ms. Butters: I center the door to the art supply cupboard openforfive minutes. Thats all.
Lynette: Five minutes. The little girl. Why didnt shesayanything?
Ms. Butters: Your boys work quickly.
Lynette: Well, obviously, they will be punished forthis.Severely.
Ms. Butters: I hesitate bringing this up since you got souglyabout it last time.
Lynette: They dont have attention deficit disorder. And Imnotgoing to drug my boys just to make your job easier. Idratherchange teachers.
Ms. Butters: The boys are in my class because Im the onlyteacherwho can handle them.
Lynette: What if we sete the twins? Put them in differentclasses.Theyre much calmer when theyre not bouncing off oneanother.
Ms. Butters: We can try that. But if it doesnt work, we maynotlonger be able to accommodate them.
Mary Alice Young: It suddenly occurred to Lynette her labelwasabout to change yet again. And for the next few years, she wouldbeknown as the mother of the boys who painted TiffanyAxelrodblue.
Mary Alice Young: It looked to be an interesting afternoononWisteria Lane. A mysterious cassette tape had been discovered bymyfriend, Bree. She had stolen it from her marriage counselor.Acounselor Id once spoken to in strictest confidence.
Dr. Goldfine: So, how have you been?
Mary Alice Young: I had the nightmare again.
Gabrielle: Its so weird to hear Mary Alice.
Dr. Goldfine: Still the same one.
Mary Alice: Yes. But this time, I was standing in a river, andIsaw the girl under the water. She kept screaming Angela overandover again.
Dr. Goldfine: So what do you think the significance of thenameAngela is?
Mary Alice: Actually, thats my real name.
Gabrielle: Her real name? That doesnt make any sense. Iveseenher drivers license. It did not say Angela.
Susan: Bree, what does it say on the rest of the tape?
Bree: Just more about her nightmares and this girl she wasafraidof.
Gabrielle: So what the hell do we do now?
Susan: I think we should show Paul the note.
Lynette: Are you sure? Hes gonna freak.
Bree: Well, its now or never. I mean, I saw what hes askingforthe place. Its gonna sell quickly.
Gabrielle: Can I say something? Im glad Pauls moving.
Bree: Gabby!
Gabrielle: Im sorry. Hes just always giving me thecreeps.Havent you guys noticed? Hes got this dark thing goingon.Theres something about him that just feels...
Lynette: Malignant?
Gabrielle: Yes.
Susan: Weve all sort of felt it.
Bree: That being said, I do love what hes done withthatlawn.
1. Wipe out
Thegangstersthreatened to wipe him and his family out.

Labels are important to the living. They dictatehowpeople see themselves.
2. Feel short of
片断中 this new label frequentlyfellshort of what was advertised.
3. You got so ugly about it
Im just kidding.
4. Give somebody the creeps
Thatguys always staring at me. He gives methe creeps.
A disorder characterized by a difficulty in retainingfocus, especially on tasks, for long periods of time. As one of themostcommon reasons children are brought into therapy, ADD isoftentreated with the somewhat controversial drug Ritalin?, whichisthought to work by stimulating the attention-focusing structuresofthe brain.
