　　Some 45 percent of companies ban such liaisons, while 14percentsay they discourage workplace romances , though they do nothave aformal policy on the issue, said the study released Wednesdaybythe consulting firm Challenger, Gray &Christmas.

　　Only three percent simply turn a blind eye to suchmatters,added the study, based on a survey of 100 humanresourceexecutives.

　　A recent survey on the job site Vault.com showed that 60percentof workers admit to having had an office romance, up from46percent three years ago. And some 38 percent say they are awareofa romance blossoming in their workplace.

　　The consulting firm noted that having easy access to theInternetat the office further stokes the romantic fires.

　　Adding a new wrinkle to the workplace romance issue isthegrowing popularity of networking sites, such as LinkedIn,MySpaceand Friendster, that make the time it takes for an officeromanceto bud about as fast as your Internet connection, said thefirmspresident, John Challenger.

　　More workers have access to an increasingly interactiveInternetcenter at their desks. With Web 2.0, as this morecollaborativeInternet is known, it is easier to foster and hideintra-officerelationships, he said in a statement.
