There is a tall boy, with a gentle face and crew cut hair. Sometimes he acts like a kid. He likes basketball very much. In addition, he likes making friends with the same interest or hobby as his. Who is he?

　　Yes, it is me. My name is XiongCan, English name—Peer. You may find my English name a little bit wired. However, in dictionary, Peer means equality, everyone in this world is capable of handling the difficulties. So don’t look down upon others. There is an old saying goes: ‘if you want to be respected by others, firstly, you should respect people around you!’ This must be a very important rule in dealing with the partnership.

　　I was born in Wuhan, Hubei. With the time passed by, Wuhan becomes more and more prosperous. And I always dream of enjoying the beautiful landscapes of many cities in China. This summer holiday, I seized the chance of taking part in 2006 National English Summer Camp For College Students which was hold in Inner Mongolia. I was very pleased that I experienced the feeling of riding a horse on the prairie and ‘touching’ the clouds in the blue sky. On the way to Wuhan, I dropped at Beijing, and paid a visit to many ancient historic buildings during my stay there. A week later, I was trying to reach the peak of Wulaofeng which was located in Jiujiang, Jiangxi. You see, I am really fond of traveling. As far as I am concerned, experiences can really broaden horizon and enrich one’s knowledge.

　　Basketball plays a great important role in my daily life. Of all the seasons, I love summer best, because I can play basketball nearly everyday without worrying about the clothes-changing. Though I don’t play it well, I always try to improve my skills. I focus more on the team-work rather than the scores. In my opinion, if you focus on just showing yourself and gaining scores, you will be the loser. By the way, I love watching NBA live and I can get some inspiration from it. They show me how to defend, how to gain scores and how to cooperate with my teammates.

　　In my spare time, I often watch some Hollywood movies with English captions, which is a way to improve my English. When I was a sophomore, I often took all kinds of elective courses, such as photographing, service&manner, computer, literature, and so on. The teachers aroused my interest of learning; they let me know what is necessary to me. One sentence struck me: ‘In this fast-paced society, you should gain some new knowledge everyday in order not to fall behind. The competition is fierce, more experience and more skills will bring you better jobs.’ I keep the motto in my mind, and push myself to learn something each day.

　　There are many obstacles on the road of life. Which attitude will you take when they come to you? To me, I will face it with an optimistic attitude. Remember that smiling will not only give other people good impressions, but also show your confidence.

　　有一个长得很高的男孩，平头，看上去很和蔼。有时候做事情像个孩子一样，他相当的爱篮球。除此之外，他还很喜欢交一些志趣相投的朋友。你知道他是谁么？

　　对了，他就是我！我的名字叫熊灿，Peer是我的英文名字。可能你会觉得我的英文名字有点怪。但是，在我的字典里面，Peer的意思是平等，在这个世界上，每个人都有能力去解决一些困难的事情。所以说，不要轻视任何人，有句古话说的好：“如果你要别人尊重你，首先你就要尊重别人！”这也是你在处理人际关系的时候非常重要的一条原则。

　　我的家乡是湖北武汉。随着时间的推移，武汉变得越来越繁荣富强。但是我也时常梦想着能游遍祖国的美好风光。这个暑假，我抓住了个难得的机会，有幸参加了在内蒙古举办的2006年全国大学生英语夏令营，令我高兴的是能体验在草原上骑马驰骋的感觉，也仿佛能用手‘摸到’蓝天上的云。在回武汉的路上，我在北京下了车，在停留的那段时间我游览了很多古老的历史建筑物。七天后，我正在竭尽全力攀登位于江西九江的五老峰。显然，我是个酷爱旅游的人。在我看来，多旅游多经历是件好事，它不仅可以拓宽视野，也可以改变一个人原来的一些想法。

　　篮球在我的日常生活中扮演相当重要的角色。在四个季节中，我最喜欢的是夏天，因为我几乎天天都可以打篮球，而且不用担心换衣服的问题。虽然我的篮球打得并不好，但我总在尝试着改善我的技术。比赛的时候，我关心更多的是团队合作而不是分数.。我认为，如果一个人只知道展示自己，不停的得分，那么他就是个失败者。多传球，通过合作来得分才是最聪明的打法。顺便说一下，我也从电视直播的NBA比赛中找到了灵感。他们让我学到了如何防守，如何得分，还有怎么与队友合作。

　　闲暇的时候，我常看些有英文字幕的好莱坞大片，这是个可以提高我的英语能力的方法。在我读大二的时候，我经常去听学校开的各种各样的选修课，比如摄影技术，电脑维修，文学欣赏，服务礼仪等等。那些优秀的老师引起了我学习的劲头，也让我明白了什么对我才是最重要的。有一句话给我的印象很深：“在这个飞速发展的社会，只有不断的坚持每天学点新东西才不会落后于别人。竞争是激烈的，积累多一点经验和学多一点技能也就意味着你能找到更好的工作。”我把这句话记在心中，每天都提醒自己要学点东西。

　　在人生的道路上常常会有很多的障碍。当它们来到你身边的时候，你会以怎样的态度去面对呢？如果是我的话，我会以一种乐观的态度去对待它。记住：微笑不仅会留给别人一个好的印象，而且会让人觉得你很自信！
