How do you know if you have dandruff? Dandruff is an oily substance and is usually grey or yellow. It forms in little clumps or balls. If the problem is merely dry scalp you will find thin flakes of a hard dry substance, white in colour, in your hair. There is a simple test that you can do to tell the difference. Wash your hair and then blow dry it. If you have a dry scalp most of the flakes will have disappeared. If you have dandruff you will still find a substantial amount of stuff in your hair. Dandruff doesn't wash out.
