Weekends are peak business times for bars. In order to attract customers during week nights certain special offers and activities are arranged. The following are a few examples.

Happy Hour is a sales technique long used by bars to attract customers at otherwise quiet times. For one hour, (often Happy Hour will include two or three hours), there will be a reduction on the prices of drinks. The most common form is 'buy one, get one free'. Happy Hour is mostly held on week days at around 5pm when most people are finishing a day's work and are at their thirstiest.
在非高峰期间，欢乐时光是酒吧长期沿用的一种促销手段。在这一个小时中（欢乐时光通常会持续2、3个小时的时间），酒水会打折出售。最常见的形式就是“买一送一”。欢乐时光大多在周末下午5点左右进行，那个时候，大部分人都结束了一天的工作，那时也是他们最想喝酒的时候。
Ladies' Night.女士之夜
Many bars and clubs have a night during the week when prices are reduced for females. By attracting more females they naturally attract more men! Any men caught impersonating women will be severely punished. There are other versions of ladies' night, such as students' night and etc.
很多酒吧和俱乐部在周末都会推出这样一个夜晚，女士在当晚的消费享受优惠。在吸引女士的同时，酒吧和俱乐部也自然会吸引更多的男士！如果有人化装成女士，一经发现便将受到重罚。除了女士之夜，这种酬宾活动还有其它形式，例如学生之夜等。
Beat the Clock 争分夺秒
Guaranteed to get the drinks down fast, this is a popular student pub event. Drinks are sold at a very low price. However, the price will rise every half an hour until it reaches its normal level again. The object is to drink as much as early as possible.
这是一个在学生酒吧里颇为流行的活动，它肯定会让人们尽快将酒喝下肚。（在这个活动中）酒价十分低廉。然而，价格会每半个小时涨一次，直到再次涨到正常价格。其目标就是让人们尽可能在最短的时间内喝下最多的酒。
Pub Quiz 酒吧竞猜
This takes the form of a normal quiz with teams, answer sheets, and a quizmaster. The only difference is that it is held in a pub. The object is to motivate people to go to the pub on a rainy week night. i.e. "No darling, I'm not going drinking. I'm going to a quiz".
