Michael Jackson will visit the civil war-torn nation of Sudan
to better understand the recently reported news of child slavery
in that country. Jackson, founder of the Heals The Kids initiative,
hopes his visit will attract media attention to the forced slavery
of Christian children in the southern part of that country by
the soldiers of the Muslim north. Jackson told the New York Post,
"I don't think we can turn a blind eye to something like this.
They can't be forced to work." He added, "I want this slavery
to end, now and forever."On his Sudan trip, Jackson will join
a U.S. contingent that includes the Reverend Al Sharpton, who
just returned from a trip to the country to see the atrocities
first hand. On Jackson's involvement in the crusade, Sharpton
told the New York Post, "His star power will help us highlight
the horrors of slavery."
Neither Jackson of Sharpton have made public the exact dates of
the upcoming trip.
