Kofi Annan announced on Thursday he would seek a second five-year
term as the secretary-general of the United Nations, saying he wanted
to work for human rights and peace and fight poverty.
Annan, a Ghanaian who turns 63 in April, completes his first five-year

General Assembly are expected to make a decision after September.
